Senior Endpoint Engineer – Azure Virtual Desktop & Microsoft Intune

Role Summary
As the Senior Endpoint Engineer, you’ll own the design, deployment, and support of Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Microsoft Intune, ensuring seamless, secure, and high-performance physical/virtual workspaces across the enterprise. Your expertise will directly impact ~224,000 users, making this a critical role in maintaining a reliable, secure, and user-centric endpoint ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Drive the roadmap for endpoint technology, delivering on schedule with exceptional quality.
- Advise and guide cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with operational excellence and performance standards.
- Act as the final escalation point for Desktop Operations and End User Computing (EUC) environments, including Endpoint Security and application management.
Technical Management
- Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Administration:
- Oversee VM deployment, performance monitoring, and image management.
- Automate software package deployment, patching updates, and workstation imaging.
- Microsoft Intune & Endpoint Security:
- Design and deploy Intune policies for application management, device compliance, and security configurations.
- Windows 11 Provisioning: Build and maintain Intune Autopilot processes + Windows Update for Business policies.
- Inventory & Updates: Manage BIOS/firmware, service packs, and application updates via MECM/SCCM.
- Active Directory & Group Policy:
- Design GPOs for security and configuration alignment with broader infrastructure goals.
- Collaborate with Active Directory teams to ensure consistency.
- Application Lifecycle:
- Package, test, and deploy new applications as needed.
- Maintain SCCM task sequences and desktop images for global standards.

Support & Optimization
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting for Endpoint Security, application deployment, and VDI performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and preventative maintenance for operations teams.
- Develop and expand Knowledge Base (KB) documentation and support artifacts to elevate service quality.
Compliance & Security
- Implement security best practices within Intune, including incident response for mobile/endpoints.
- Ensure seamless integration with Microsoft 365 services.
Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing
- Partner with Engineering, IT, and Security teams to develop scalable solutions.
- Train teams on Intune configurations, Windows provisioning, and Group Policy admin.
- Contribute to team-wide process improvements and best-practice documentation.
Technical Qualifications
Core Expertise Required
- 8+ years total experience, with 5+ years specializing in Microsoft Intune (design/implementation).
- 5+ years as a System Administrator/Engineer in an enterprise desktop environment.
- Deep experience with:
- Windows 11 administration + Group Policy Management (AD/Intune).
- Virtualization/VDI: Prefers Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD); familiarity with Citrix alternative welcome.
- Endpoint Protection Engineering (NetEnforcer/Threats Protection technologies).
- MECM/SCCM (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager) + Intune.
- Patch Management: BIOS, firmware, service packs, and application-tier updates.
- Basic SQL Server administration for inventory/reporting.

Specialized Skills
- Experience with software packaging tools (e.g., InstallShield, equivalent).
- Familiarity with Azure AD Connect, PowerShell scripting, and cloud integration.

Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience).
