Job Description: Trade and Product Risk Financial Crime Manager (Senior Vice President)
Purpose of the Trade and Product Risk Financial Crime Manager (LOD Physical Crime Execution) Role
To provide end-to-end support to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in the implementation and ongoing effectiveness of the bank's risk management framework, with a specialist focus on Financial Crime Risk (FCE) within Trade and Working Capital (TWC) products globally.
Primarily responsible for:
- Acting as the primary Financial Crime Expert (FCE) interface between TWC product teams, 2nd Line of Defence (Compliance), and Risk to ensure risk mitigation, control frameworks, and product lifecycle governance are robust, aligned with regulatory expectations, and fit for purpose.
- Leading Financial Crime engagements across New/Amended Product Approval (NAPA), product reviews, and ongoing governance.
Maintaining approved, monitored financial crime risk levels from product design expiry to:
- Product renewals/revisions.
- Structuring stages and product continuation in use.
Accountabilities

Assessment & monitoring of risk management practices:
- Continuously review existing risk management frameworks.
- Conduct identification of emerging risks.
- Assess likelihood and impact of identified risks.

Financial Crime risk mitigation & controls:
- Ensure compliance with AML, sanctions, fraud, and Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) risks.
- Analyse TWC products and related approved financial crime typology and controls.

Product Governance & Lifecycle Risk Assurance:
- Drive NAPA, product review and governance
- De-risk product teams by ensuring Financial Crime assesses and reduces Criminal Risk Exposure Levels (CRL)
- Manage lifecycle risk for existing and new TWC products via independently led reviews and high-level challenges

Risk Awareness & culture adherence:
- Promote Financial Crime best / new practices across the TWC division.
- Drive behavioural change for risk disclosure and escalation.

- Stakeholder management & escalation of risk trends:
- Robust spotting, assessing, classifying and escalating Financial Crime risks emerging across the TWC product suite
- Partnering with relevant third party experts where needed.
Key Responsibilities (of Senior VP Trade & Product Risk Financial Crime Manager)
Business Strategy & Service Delivery
- Contribute or set risk management strategy and functional requirements.
- Recommend actions for improvement to existing policies and processes.
- Lead and own the implementation of continuous control improvements to elevate and better control Financial Crime Risk framework/performance.
- Escalate policy/procedure breaches to the relevant management for decision making and action.
Team Leadership & Development (if managing a team)
- Define new or revised job roles aligned with evolving responsibilities.
- Align team operations to strategic and tactical business priorities.
- Develop employees by setting performance targets, coaching, and rewarding excellent performance.
- Facilating career development and progression.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with risk, compliance, and product teams across the Bank to drive alignment and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with operational and support functions to deliver business-aligned solutions and monitor / meet expectations for strategy, operations, and budgets.
Financial Crime Control & Regulation Expertise
- Act as a subject matter expert in Trade and Working Capital Financial Crime risks, applying robust knowledge across TWC repertoires (structure/product offerings, client segments, and geographies) risk evaluation.
- Produce detailed, formalised assessments of risks and mitigations across the broad portfolio of risk and opacity activity in specific TWC products.
- Breeze execution of Financial Crime Risk scoping
- Devise and maintain Financial Crime Risk matrices to monitor control effectiveness.
- With senior level beneficial ownership analysis, enriching discussion.
Policies, Procedures & Stakeholder Visibility
- Preparing policy/procedure recommendations, experts, and escalations for CSPFEF executive.
- Engaging relevant stakeholders on team conscientious levels concerning FinCr standards, mitigations, and governance.

Qualifications & Experience
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Essential skills and knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of AML, sanctions, fraud, and Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) risks within Corporate Banking and Trade Finance/Working Capital.
- Prior experience in national AML/ML/TBFIL/PFL controls, global structures and local regulatory reporting frameworks.
- Experience in assessing complex corporate ownership structures, beneficial ownership, nominee arrangements, and cross-border risks.
- Knowledge of Trade & Working Capital transactions analysis; ability to map transactions flows, identify financial crime risks, and assess control coverage effectiveness.
- Excellent understanding of:
- FCA, JMLSG guidance, UK Money Laundering Regulations.
- Financial Crime Governance frameworks, Corporate Governability, oversight processes, and effective liaison with regulatory entities.
- Strong experience with NAPA, product governance processes, and product lifecycle risk management.
Experience leverage conduit for more (choose three thoughtfully) may include:
- Experience with funding bank or investment
- Strading and financing of trade related transaction streams.
- Understanding of New Product Development, alternative access options, partnership deal sourcing, and Launch Planning across Trade & Working Capital environment (as relevant).
Desirable skills:
- Experience with digitalisation and use of AI in risk management.
