Position: Trade Counter Assistant

About the Role

Salary: Up to £29,000 per annum DOE Hours: 40/hour MON-FRI 08:30 – 17:00 or 07:00 – 15:30 (rota-based) – No weekends! Location: Williams, Brighton

We’re seeking a Trade Counter Assistant to join our bustling and friendly team in Brighton! This varied role includes customer service on the trade counter and over the phone, alongside occasional warehouse duties and local deliveries.

Dedicated or planned use of a driving licence for deliveries would be beneficial but isn’t mandatory.

Where Do I Fit In?

We’re an independent plumbing and heating merchant, and we thrive on enthusiasm, teamwork, and those who are eager to deliver exceptional customer service.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • Closely working with tradespeople or prior experience in plumbing/heating merchants, builders’ stores, DIY/hardware retailers, or wholesale trade – not essential, but advantageous! –
  • Keen communication skills –
  • A mind for detail and organisation – responsible for stock management, picking orders, and distributing stock accurately –
  • The ability to stand for long periods with flexible physical aptitude for warehouse tasks –
  • Basic hands-on ability for delivery tasks and the occasional warehouse hands-on operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • ** primary focus:** Handling trade counter inquiries and customer servicing.
  • Warehouse duties:
    • Stock rotation, restocking shelves, and ensuring tidy and efficient operations.
    • Order picking and prepping for delivery.
    • Incoming goods: reception, checking, and proper stock liasoning.
  • Branch upkeep: General maintenance and attendance to the workspace.
  • Local deliveries: Ensuring accurate delivery of products to clients in our vicinity.
  • Quoting: Assisting with accurate product/quote generation for customers.
