Trade Maintenance Build Technician

As a Trade Maintenance Build Technician covering Essex areas, you’ll play a key role in keeping our stores and carparks safe, functional, and welcoming for customers and colleagues. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for a wide range of building maintenance tasks—both planned and reactive—helping to ensure everything runs smoothly day to day. Your work will include general building repairs and upkeep, such as brickwork, carpentry, pothole repairs, and drainage fixes. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same, so flexibility and problem-solving skills are essential. We’re looking for someone with a solid background in general building work who can turn their hand to a variety of multi-trade repair work and deliver high standards every time. In return, you’ll receive ongoing training, opportunities to grow your career, and the chance to work for one of the UK’s most recognised and respected retail brands. The Hiring Manager for this vacancy is Phillip Scully.

You will be responsible for

  • Carrying out general building maintenance across Tesco sites to keep stores safe, functional, and welcoming.
  • Completing planned and reactive repairs, aiming for first-time fixes and high-quality standards.
  • Handling a variety of building tasks such as brickwork, carpentry, pothole repairs, and drainage maintenance.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
  • Communicating progress and updates clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Using problem-solving skills to identify practical solutions for common building issues.
  • Managing tasks through to completion and maintaining accurate updates via mobile devices and business systems.
  • Weekend work may be required and will be paid as overtime.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
