We are partnering with a well-established international energy trading and marketing business seeking a Mandarin-speaking Accountant to join its London-based finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced commodities environment, supporting financial reporting, trading operations, and international stakeholders across multiple regions. Working closely with finance teams and overseas offices, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and audit activities while contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities Manage month-end close activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in line with accounting standards and trading activities Process and reconcile journal entries and cargo-related settlement transactions Perform intercompany reconciliations and confirmations across international entities Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packs Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and trading performance reviews Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide supporting documentation Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate accounting records Collaborate with finance colleagues across international location

Education, Qualifications and Experience

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) Fluent in both Mandarin and English (written and spoken) Strong understanding of IFRS and UK statutory accounting requirements Experience in month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Knowledge of international accounting standards and tax compliance Strong Excel and systems skills; SAP experience is advantageous Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Able to manage competing priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across different cultures and regions Minimum 3+ years of relevant accounting experience Experience within trading, commodities, energy, shipping, or a similarly complex international environment would be advantageous Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
