IT Application Support Analyst – Commodities-Indexed Transactions Group (CIT)
Location: London (onsite, 5 days a week) Team: CIT Business Support Team
About the Role
Talan is recruiting for an IT Application Support Analyst to join the London-based CIT Business Support Team, which specialises in supporting the Commodities-Indexed Transactions Group (CIT).
CIT provides liquidity and market-making services across commodity markets, including:
- Base and Precious Metals
- Oil
- European and North American Power and Natural Gas
- Coal
- Emissions
- Agricultural Commodities
The CIT Business Support Team supports front-to-back production functionality for the CIT platform as part of a partnership with the CIT Core Development Team, both based on the trading floor.

Daily tasks include:

Proactively monitoring the system

Configuring system parameters

Analysing and resolving production support technical and functional issues

Fielding questions from:
- Traders
- Marketers
- Risk managers
- Middle office teams
- Ensuring all personnel remain informed of system issues and changes

Logging and documenting incidents

Advising the core development team on necessary bug fixes and enhancements

Participating in the first-line support rota (including an early shift for overnight batch issues and on-call overnight/weekend support) to enable focused deeper analysis for non-first-line team members.

Skills and Experience
The role requires strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse teams, including:
- Trading
- Sales
- Middle office
- Back office
- Confirmations
- Market risk
- Accounting
Quick uptake of product and process knowledge is essential.
Functional Skills
Knowledge of commodities, P&L, and pricing frameworks is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Intermediate-level relational database and SQL proficiency (essential)
- Python or other programming skills
- Windows infrastructure expertise (servers, troubleshooting; essential)
- Strong understanding of script-based automation (e.g., PowerShell) and Windows environment scripting
