Trading Assistant - Local

Trading Assistant – Working in our Stores

Our stores are fast-paced environments where no two days are ever the same. They are at the heart of the local community, providing outstanding value, quality and great service. As a Trading Assistant, you’ll be the special ingredient that ensures our stores are set up brilliantly to give our customers everything they come to Sainsbury’s for.


Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years or older due to the working hours and type of goods (such as alcohol and tobacco) that may be handled
  • Must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Trading Assistant, your role involves:

  • Working in a small team to ensure all store operations run smoothly, providing a convenient and speedy shopping experience for customers
  • Stock replenishment: Collecting stock from the warehouse using heavy roll cages (up to 15KG) and stocking shelves across the store
  • Customer service: Serving customers at checkouts, supporting deliveries, and maintaining a well-presented, clean, and tidy store
  • On-demand grocery fulfilment: Picking and selecting high-quality products for Click & Collect orders and assisting with parcel collections
  • Customer engagement: Always ready to assist customers with queries or additional recommendations
  • Product knowledge: Building expertise in our products, services, and promotions
  • Fresheness checks: Date-checking fresh produce and grocery items
