Trading Manager

From a Bradford market stall to the UK’s fifth largest supermarket, we are proud to be the Yorkshire food retailer serving customers across the UK through nearly 500 stores and an online home delivery service.
Our business is mainly focused on food & grocery, and we source and process most of our fresh food through our own manufacturing facilities.
About the Role
We’re recruiting for a high performing Trading Manager to help drive our business growth and success.
Ensuring our stores are fully stocked is critical for our customers' experience—this role is vital to achieving our objectives. Your responsibilities include:
- Providing optimal availability and standards across all departments, ensuring legal and safe compliance
- Leading the team to the highest possible standards
- Ensuring the best shopping experience for every customer
- Planning and organising promotions or in-store events
- Listening to customer feedback and responding effectively
- Maintaining market-leading availability across the store
- Collaborating with other managers for a supportive, performance-driven department
- Managing people processes: departmental scheduling, absence, performance, and talent discussions
- Delivering training to upskill the team for confidence and capability
- Motivating and developing departmental colleagues
- Building strong relationships with other departments
- Driving purposeful leadership to deliver outstanding performance against targets
- Leading the store team and ensuring effective resource planning

Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead the department to the highest standards and maintain top-tier customer service
- Event Management: Plan and execute in-store promotions and events to create a dynamic shopping experience
- Customer Engagement: Gather and respond to feedback, ensuring improvements are made in line with customer needs
- Inventory Management: Drive availability and market-leading levels across all store areas
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with other teams to ensure cohesive operational performance
- HR & Development: Manages schedules, absences, performance reviews, and talent development for colleagues
- Leadership & Motivation: Empower colleagues to operate confidently and deliver high performance across departments
- Resource Management: Thoroughly plan and allocate resources for optimal store operations
