Trading Manager – (High Performing Retail Role)

From a Bradford market stall to the UK’s fifth largest supermarket, we are proud to be the Yorkshire food retailer serving customers across the UK through nearly 500 stores and an online home delivery service.
Our business centres around food & grocery, with a unique advantage: we source and process most of our fresh produce via our own manufacturing facilities. This approach ensures the highest quality and availability for our customers.
The Role
We’re recruiting for a high-performing Trading Manager to help our business continue to grow and thrive. Your primary focus will be ensuring our stores remain fully stocked, legally safe, and operating at market-leading standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Trading Manager, you will report to the Store Manager and have the following responsibilities:
- Lead teams to ensure exceptional performance and drive a best-in-class shopping experience for every customer
- Plan and execute promotions and in-store events effectively
- Listen and respond to customer feedback with operational solutions
- Maintain market-leading stock availability across all departments
- Collaborate with other managers to foster a supportive, performance-driven environment
- Manage departmental resources—scheduling, absence, performance, and talent development
- Deliver training to build the capabilities and confidence of your team
- Motivate and lead colleagues to ensure seamless cross-departmental operation
- Identify and develop talent within your department
- Build strong working relationships with other operational teams
- Deliver outstanding performance against all relevant target metrics
- Take an active leadership role in store operations
- Ensure efficient resource planning and allocation

Whether you have prior experience in retail, hospitality, the service industry, or travel/tourism, what matters is your passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
- Proven team management experience in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills—ability to share knowledge and best practices effectively
- Strong relationship-building abilities with stakeholders across all areas
- Flexibility and adaptability—with a willingness to challenge, innovate, and drive change
- Strong listening and response skills—adapting to customer and colleague needs promptly
