About The Role

From a Bradford market stall to the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket, we are the Yorkshire food retailer serving customers across the UK via over 500 stores, an online store, and a home delivery service.
Our business is mainly food & grocery, with a unique commitment to sourcing and processing most of our fresh food through our own manufacturing facilities.
We’re recruiting for a high-performing Trading Manager to drive our business to continued growth and success.
Ensuring our stores remain fully stocked is crucial to delivering a fantastic customer experience, a core responsibility of this role. The Trading Manager provides market-leading availability and standards alongside legal and safety compliance.
The role involves:
- Reporting to the Store Manager
- Leading teams to deliver exceptional customer service in every interaction
- Planning/organising current promotions and in-store events
- Capturing and responding effectively to customer feedback
- Achieving optimal stock availability across departments
- Collaborating with other store managers to foster a supportive, high-performing culture
- Managing staff scheduling and routines, including absence, performance, and talent reviews
- Delivering training to develop team capability and confidence
- Motivating and leading employees across diverse departments
- Identifying and developing talent to strengthen the team
- Maintaining proactive relationships between operating departments
- Leading with purpose to deliver outstanding performance against departmental targets
- Taking a ensemble leadership role within the store
- Ensuring effective resource planning and operational execution

About You
We seek candidates with:
- Retail, hospitality or travel & tourism experience
- A passion for exceptional customer service
- Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communications skills to share insight and best practices
- Ability to forge and maintain relationships with stakeholders while remaining flexible
- Adaptability, paired with a robust ability to challenge systems/processes
- Active listening and responsive problem-solving for both customers and colleagues
