Trading Origination Structurer
In this key position, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering bespoke transactions across the UK and Irish Power, Gas, and Environmental Commodities markets.
Working at the intersection of commercial strategy, risk management, and market innovation, you'll collaborate with a diverse network of experts to create tailored solutions that meet customer needs while driving business growth and strengthening our market position.
This is a highly visible role within our Trading Origination team, offering the opportunity to influence commercial outcomes from concept through to execution. Reporting to the Structuring Manager, you'll work closely with Originators, Pricing, Commercial Development, Risk, Finance, and Legal teams, bringing together technical expertise and commercial insight to unlock value in complex and non-standard transactions.
How will I spend my time in this role?
- Work across the organisation to create innovative structured products that contribute to the delivery of Origination PnL
- Lead the design and structuring of innovative commercial contracts that maximize value while effectively managing risks
- Conduct independent transaction due diligence, identify, assess, and evaluate risks (market, credit, legal, regulatory, operational), providing critical insights into the Origination process
- Evaluate deal delivery requirements and our own process and systems capability and provides as input into the Origination process
- Supports Origination in developing and analysing transactional structures that incorporate risk transfer and create value for Smartest beyond traditional fees and margins

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?
- Previous UK energy market experience, ideally in trading, asset optimisation, commercial subject matter expert or risk management role
- Experience with complex subject matter, ideally spanning the structuring and delivery of non-standard energy transactions and risk management solutions
