You Will
- Carry out inspections and lead complex investigations across a range of Trading Standards functions to ensure compliance with legislation, protecting consumers and supporting legitimate businesses.
- Investigate complaints, gather evidence and take appropriate enforcement action.
- Provide expert advice and support to businesses and provide advice through Primary Authority Partnerships, helping businesses achieve and maintain compliance.
- Lead and deliver projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partner agencies to achieve shared objectives for consumers, businesses and communities.
- Support and contribute to preventative initiatives, campaigns and projects that raise awareness, improve compliance and reduce the incidence of consumer detriment.
- Support, mentor, and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge and promoting high professional standards across the service.
To Succeed In This Role, You Must Have
A recognised Trading Standards qualification (DTS, DCATS, DCA or Stage 2 CTSI Professional Competency Framework). Applications are also welcome from part-qualified candidates who are committed to developing their professional competence through our career progression framework. Appointment grade and salary will reflect qualifications, competency and relevant experience.

- Problem Solving and Prevention – Identify emerging risks, trends and areas of potential consumer harm and take a proactive approach to preventing problems before they escalate.
