Locations:
- Bupa Place, Salford – working from home 3 days per week
- Angel Court, London – working from home 3 days per week, with travel to Bupa Place, Salford required twice per month
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
About the Role
We're looking for a commercially minded Trading Strategy & Performance Manager to drive trading effectiveness across our SME distribution business. This is a high-profile role that combines commercial strategy, performance insight, stakeholder leadership, and operational delivery to help maximise growth opportunities across New Business, Retention, and B2B Operations.
Working closely with senior leaders across Sales, Operations, Finance, Digital, Resource Planning and Sales Excellence, you'll create a clear view of commercial performance, identify growth opportunities, and ensure trading initiatives are prioritised and delivered for maximum impact.
What You'll Be Doing
Trading Strategy & Prioritisation
- Develop and maintain an integrated SME trading strategy aligned to business objectives.
- Identify and prioritise growth opportunities across SME portfolios.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders on trading focus and commercial priorities.
- Assess market trends, customer insights and performance data to support strategic decision-making.
Trading Performance & Insight
- Create and maintain a commercial trading performance framework.
- Translate complex data into meaningful commercial insights and recommendations.
- Highlight risks, opportunities and performance trends across the trading lifecycle.
- Drive a consistent understanding of performance across key business forums.
Trading Resource Alignment
- Provide insight into where commercial effort generates the greatest return.
- Work with Finance and Resource Planning teams to support prioritisation decisions.
- Facilitate evidence-based discussions on resource allocation and commercial trade-offs.

Trading Initiatives & Test-and-Learn Programmes
- Design, coordinate and prioritise trading initiatives and campaigns.
- Establish robust test-and-learn methodologies to evaluate effectiveness.
- Scale successful initiatives and discontinue activities that don't deliver expected outcomes.
- Collaborate with operational, delivery and digital teams to ensure successful implementation.
Governance & Stakeholder Leadership
- Establish an effective trading operating rhythm across the SME business.
- Track initiative delivery, dependencies and benefits realisation.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Sales, Finance, Operations, Product and Digital.
- Support senior leadership forums with concise analysis, insights and recommendations.
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial experience within SME, B2B or regulated financial services environments.
- Proven ability to influence and drive outcomes across multiple functions without direct authority.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using performance data to inform commercial decisions.
- Understanding of sales, retention and operational models within a regulated environment.
- Graduate-level education or equivalent professional experience.
