Trading Underwriter Opportunity at ARAG UK

We have an excellent opportunity for a Trading Underwriter to join our high performing Underwriting department at ARAG UK. Based in central Bristol this is a great opportunity to work alongside Senior and Assistant Trading Underwriters, and have responsibility for dealing with business partners and providing our partners with a bespoke service.

In this key role, the successful candidate will be analysing data sets to review and renew/quote scheme and standalone policies to ensure profitability. You’ll also be responsible for setting up scheme and standalone business, ensure policy literature and agreements in place in line with policies, procedures and underwriting authorities.

  • Meet with our business partners to negotiate renewal terms
  • Provide performance updates
  • Proactively manage their insurance risk

In addition, you will be responsible for identifying any underwriting issues negatively impacting our business partners, working with internal and external stakeholders to resolve these issues to our business partners satisfaction.

About You

Ideally, we’re seeking candidates with previous underwriting experience but if not, insurance or financial services experience would be advantageous.

It's important to the role that the successful applicant can demonstrate previous experience using MS Excel to review and analyse data, and an innovative approach and ability to develop meaningful and long term relationships with business partners in addition to:

  • The ability to work at pace whilst maintaining an accurate, high quality output
  • An ability to manage different projects and tasks, while meeting challenging deadlines and exceeding customers’ expectations
  • The ability to lead complex underwriting conversations with business partners
