Traditional Butler
Butler (Special Events & Guest Services Manager)
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide personalized service and attention to fulfilling all guest needs, including but not limited to:
- Delivering coffee and tea upon request
- Preparing notes of new arrivals to communicate important preferences across the hotel operation
- Co-ordinating with the front desk to prepare VIP rooms
- Checking room keys and ensuring compliance with guest expectations and requests
- Co-ordinating with the front desk to escort early arrivals
- Being present upon guests’ check-in to anticipate and address needs
- Completing butler flags from local systems (reservations, sales, and other departments)
- Sending pre-arrival emails
- Co-ordinating with the front desk to escort VIPs to their rooms
- Collaborating with the Guest Services and Engineering departments on requests
- Handling laundry requests from guests, ensuring delivery and prompt return
Ensure compliance with company policies, including:
- Reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to management
- Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information
- Protecting company assets
- Adhering to uniform and personal appearance standards

Key responsibilities also include:
- Welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to established standards
- Anticipating and addressing guest service needs
- Assisting individuals with disabilities
- Expressing gratitude to guests authentically
- Using clear and professional language in communication
- Reviewing written documents for accuracy and completeness
- Handling telephone calls with appropriate etiquette
- Developing positive working relationships and supporting team goals
Physical demands include:
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods
May be required to perform other reasonable duties as directed by supervisors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Work Experience: No prior experience required
- Supervisory Experience: Not required
- Licences/Certifications: None
