This role is an ideal opportunity to grow a career in traffic engineering while helping to make regeneration happen in the city of Salford.

Your role

Role

You will take on a significant role within the Traffic and Transportation team, working closely with your fellow Engineers and the Group Engineer. We want you to:

  • Process requests for Traffic Regulation Orders and other traffic management projects throughout the city.
  • Provide advice to Council Members and senior management on traffic and transportation decisions, including strategic and technical input.
  • Lead and consult on the design and supervision of Traffic Regulation Orders.
  • Maintain registers of requests for traffic and parking improvements.
  • Offer specialist knowledge on traffic management and regulation matters, including changes to guidance and legislation.
  • Supervise team members in project delivery.

Your profile

Ideally, you will be working towards your professional review with a recognised institution, or hold a relevant qualification (preferably up to degree level) in highways, road/traffic or equivalent. We are also looking for

  • The expertise to provide quality traffic engineering input for major and minor highway schemes and developer-led schemes.
  • Detailed knowledge of the design standards for traffic signs and road markings, and for junction improvements, and relevant guidance and legislation.
  • Experience of assisting with various traffic audits.
  • Experience of managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Good understanding of planning/resource management.
  • Experience of contributing to the delivery of cost efficiencies and productivity improvements.
  • Experience in producing cost estimates.
  • The ability to supervise team members and deputise for, or represent, the Senior Traffic Engineer when required.
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience in site supervision.
  • Driving licence.
  • Experience in project management and delivery of schemes within budget and timeframe.
