Compensation for this role is 30,000-35,000
How You’ll Have An Impact
As a Fleet Planner at RXO Derby, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. You will independently manage daily planning of vehicle movements using cost-effective strategies and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining fleet availability, reducing costs, and supporting high service performance in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Essential Functions
- Plan efficient routes and driver schedules using Qargo TMS to optimize LTL and FTL deliveries
- Understand national road networks, regional traffic patterns, and route constraints.
- Apply UK/EU rules on driver working hours, breaks, and tachograph usage.
- Assign jobs to drivers based on route viability, vehicle type, and driver availability.
- Record issues (e.g. delays, breakdowns, complaints) against jobs when needed.
- Brief drivers on hours, routes, and locations; provide real-time support.
- React quickly to road closures, weather, delays, or staff changes.
- Liaise with subcontractors, agencies, and external partners.
- Report on vehicle/trailer availability, maintenance, and driver schedules.

Skills
Essential Competencies:
Language Requirements
- Strong decision-making and commercial judgment in time-sensitive, peak-demand environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and able to communicate across all levels of the organization
- Familiar with VOSA legislation, including tachograph and working time directive compliance
- Demonstrated to thrive under pressure in fast-changing, operationally complex environments
- Ability to speak English fluently
Preferred Education & Experience
- 3–5 years in logistics, ideally with experience in fleet or transport planning systems
