The Opportunity

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Traffic Signals Engineer to join our Field Engineering Services team in Leeds, maintaining and supporting critical roadside technical assets.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a skilled engineering team, your role will focus on:

  • Maintenance & Fault-Finding

    • Routine and reactive maintenance of traffic signals, signs, and ITS equipment
    • Diagnosis and repair of electrical, electronic, and communication faults
  • Installation & Commissioning

    • Assistance with the set-up, testing, and commissioning of new/upgraded systems
  • Compliance & Documentation

    • Meeting contractual response times and quality standards
    • Accurate completion of project paperwork in line with safety/legal requirements

Profile

Essential Criteria

✔ GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science ✔ Basic understanding of traffic signal installations and theory ✔ Familiarity with controllers, roadside signs, and associated systems ✔ Electrical fault-finding skills ✔ Ability to work independently or as part of a team ✔ ** Qualification to work at height** ✔ Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

✨ Previous work in traffic signals, highways, ITS, or electrical ✨ Sector 8 Accreditation or equivalent traffic management experience ✨ Electrical certification or relevant engineering apprenticeship ✨ Experience commissioning traffic signal equipment ✨ Knowledge of industry standards and best-practice
