About The Role

Hours per week

The roster is varied and could be a mixture of shift patterns across nights, 10pm to 6am and this could include working weekends depending on when the roster falls, you will be given notice of your roster to plan your week (usually 3 or 4 weeks in advance). The role will involve doing your track awareness course which requires a good level of comprehension of the English language. This role is also physically demanding and can require accessing the set of the train at height from ground level using a step ladder.

As Train Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards of trains, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for passengers and staff. This role plays a crucial part in the overall maintenance and appearance of trains, contributing to a positive customer experience.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain a tidy environment inside the train
  • Inspect and report any damages, graffiti, or vandalism to the appropriate authorities for prompt resolution.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies as needed, ensuring that all necessary materials are on hand to perform daily tasks.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
  • Follow procedures for handling and disposing of cleaning chemicals and materials.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience in cleaning would be desirable
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be able to work to deadlines and be flexible with working hours and days
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekend shifts.
