Train Managers - Bournemouth

Train Manager – Bournemouth (Voyager Trains)

CrossCountry is looking for passionate and reliable Train Managers based in Bournemouth to ensure safe, comfortable, and enjoyable journeys for passengers across the UK. As the face of CrossCountry, you’ll oversee onboard operations, from ticket checking and customer service to managing challenges—big and small.

About the Role

Would you thrive in a dynamic role where no two days are the same? One where you engage with new people daily while ensuring a smooth journey for hundreds of passengers at a time? If you’re customer-focused, proactive, and thrive in high-energy environments, this role could be perfect for you.

Train Managers aboard Voyager trains (speeds up to 125mph) drive our transport network, delivering outstanding service while ensuring safety and meeting market demands.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Ticket Operations

  • Check and sell tickets onboard, including ensuring passengers have valid documentation.
  • Communicate clearly—individually and en masse—about journeys, timetables, and travel tips to enhance passenger experience.
  • Address individual customer needs with empathy and professionalism.

Onboard Logistics & Troubleshooting

  • Manage luggage and report/address defective equipment to maintain a comfortable, functional travel environment.
  • Work quickly and adaptably—you’ll need to handle unexpected issues with poise.

Safety Leadership

  • Hold final safety responsibility onboard; adhere to strict procedures under training.
  • Stay vigilant for unforeseen incidents (e.g., security, medical emergencies) and respond appropriately.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
