Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner – Haematology Directorate

About the Role Join our haematology directorate in delivering advanced clinical care to patients with haematological cancers. This Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner role operates within busy inpatient and outpatient settings, with an opportunity to contribute to a prestigious oncology team.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, seeking to improve patient care and experience. You must have significant nursing or Allied Health Professional (AHP) experience, preferably within medical and oncology environments, well established at Band 6 or above. This role requires strong clinical knowledge, managerial leadership skills, and a commitment to patient safety.
You’ll be supported to complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, enabling progression to autonomous practice in care planning, assessment, and delivery for this complex patient group. Post-training, you will further develop a disease-specific focus across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Please note, this role may require weekend and bank holiday cover.
You must be able to commence this lieutenancy registration position in September 2026.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Support
- Provide clinical assessment, support and guidance for haematological patients, including transplant medicines.
- Demonstrate highly specialist knowledge in diagnosis and managing:
- Patients with haematological malignancies
- Those requiring transplant (including inpatient and outpatient care)
- Deliver acute care expertise for patients receiving supportive/anti-cancer treatment (SACT)
- Maintain lahat by requesting relevant medical investigations, procedures, anaesthetic interventions and making referrals, while managing patient records
- Medical Support & Primary Care:
- Provide medical support to the day unit, ambulatory care units and inpatient wards
- Work alongside Discipline teams to disseminate safe practice information and promote patient safety
- Non-medical contributions:
- Contribute towards Non-Medical Prescribing policy governance (candidates without experience should discuss this early in the recruitment process)

Autonomy & Specialist Support
- Continue regulatory conversion support (equivalence evaluation and annual renewal)
- Develop your role under guidance towards a specialist lead practitioner role in haematology
- Collaborate with dysfunctional teams to expand the haematology service
- Patient education including informed consent for procedures that fall under Clinical Specialty guidance
Leadership, Education & Research
- Long-term commitment to a trajectory within the four pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice=\n Clinical practice\n Education\n Leadership and Management \n Research
- Role modelling as an Approachable, Visible, Decisive role model, embedding evidence-based practice in your areas
Requirements
✅ Key qualifications & experience required
- Current registration on NMC, HCPC, AHP registration relevant to your profession
- Clinical nursing or AHP experience at Band 6 or above, preferably in medical or oncology teams
- Demonstrates Transparent cost-breach management
- Medical autonomy and collaboration, evidenced by experience
- Prior speciality training in subspecialisation beneficial
- High aspirations within the fields of advanced practice/nursing
- Documentation skills, knowledge of medical evidence

✅ Desirable skills/experience
- Experience of Advanced Nurse /(clsician Prescribing Practice
- Background within psychological level of health education, critical appraisal skills
Please note:
- The role may involve weekend/bank holiday responsibilities
- 15 collaborative hours per week will be solely allocated to academic study
