Trainee Assembler – Full-time Permanent (West Edinburgh)

About the Role
As a Trainee Assembler in West Edinburgh, you’ll be trained to assemble and inspect high-precision products for the defence and space industries, potentially involving cutting-edge technology.
Location & Hours
- West Edinburgh
- Shift Pattern:
- Mondays–Thursdays: 0825–1705
- Fridays: 0825–1320
- Overtime eligibility: Paid at a premium rate for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities
You’ll work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive team, receiving hands-on training to achieve the following:
- Assembling complex components, such as microwave technologies, using precision tools like tweezers, soldering equipment, and microscopes
- Following assembly drawings and instructions
- Performing mechanical assembly under strict build processes
- Conducting visual quality checks and packing/packaging finished products
- Applying labelling and process documentation
- Strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Requirements
No prior experience in assembly is required. We’re looking for candidates with:
- High manual dexterity (ability to work with precise, small parts)
- Strong visual and fine motor skills (hands-on tasks such as crochet, Lego, or jewellery-making would be an advantage)
- Proficiency in English (speaking and writing)
- Full UK work rights (no sponsorship needed)
- Ability to commute to the West Edinburgh site
