Trainee Assembler – Full-time Permanent (West Edinburgh)

About the Role

As a Trainee Assembler in West Edinburgh, you’ll be trained to assemble and inspect high-precision products for the defence and space industries, potentially involving cutting-edge technology.

Location & Hours

  • West Edinburgh
  • Shift Pattern:
    • Mondays–Thursdays: 0825–1705
    • Fridays: 0825–1320
  • Overtime eligibility: Paid at a premium rate for additional hours.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive team, receiving hands-on training to achieve the following:

  • Assembling complex components, such as microwave technologies, using precision tools like tweezers, soldering equipment, and microscopes
  • Following assembly drawings and instructions
  • Performing mechanical assembly under strict build processes
  • Conducting visual quality checks and packing/packaging finished products
  • Applying labelling and process documentation
  • Strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Requirements

No prior experience in assembly is required. We’re looking for candidates with:

  • High manual dexterity (ability to work with precise, small parts)
  • Strong visual and fine motor skills (hands-on tasks such as crochet, Lego, or jewellery-making would be an advantage)
  • Proficiency in English (speaking and writing)
  • Full UK work rights (no sponsorship needed)
  • Ability to commute to the West Edinburgh site
