Are you ready to be part of the transformation of housing services in one of the UK’s largest local authorities? We are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Trainee Asset Management Surveyor scheme, a brand-new joint initiative between the City Housing department and UCB. This is a combined technical and people-focused role, supporting the delivery of high-quality housing services while building the confidence to engage effectively with residents, colleagues, contractors and wider stakeholders.

This exciting programme is designed for people who want to be part of our future service, combining structured learning with practical on-site experience, attaining an HNC (Higher National Certificate) in Building Surveying in the process. You will develop core technical surveying knowledge alongside excellent communication, problem-solving and people engagement skills, helping us deliver safe, warm, sustainable and well-managed homes for our residents.

As a trainee, you will complete a two / three year programme, working with teams across the division while gaining practical experience and an academic qualification. After successfully completing the programme and evidence portfolio, you may have the opportunity to move into a full-time role within the team.

The HNC in Building Surveying is designed to:

  • equip aspiring professionals with core technical knowledge
  • provide practical skills and strategic understanding necessary to work effectively in the housing and construction sector
  • focus on the specialist requirements from building surveyors, particularly within social housing landlords
  • support learners in developing expertise in maintenance, refurbishment, compliance, safety, and strategic asset planning.

  • assisting in delivering quality property services via inspections, resident interaction, data analysis, and project assistance
  • contributing to housing maintenance, refurbishment, and planning while ensuring compliance, sustainability, and resident satisfaction.
