The Role

We are looking for an AWS Cloud Engineer at intern or junior level to own the cloud infrastructure for our SaaS platform portfolio as we transition fully to AWS and scale our products through launch and into market.

This is a hands-on, build-from-the-ground-up role. You will have direct access to the CTO and founding team, real ownership of production infrastructure from day one, and a clear pathway to a permanent engineering role based on performance.

What You Will Work On

Platform Infrastructure

  • Design, deploy, and maintain AWS infrastructure for multiple SaaS products — EC2/ECS/Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudFront, Route 53.
  • Build and own the AWS environment for new product deployments — setting up infrastructure before development teams start building, not after.
  • Configure security groups, IAM roles, and VPC architecture aligned to GDPR and data sovereignty requirements for multi-jurisdiction deployments (UK, EU, Sub-Saharan Africa).
  • Set up and maintain monitoring, alerting, and cost management across the platform. Own the cloud cost model.

Development Infrastructure

  • Deploy and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multiple development workstreams running in parallel.
  • Support distributed engineering team members across multiple time zones with environment setup, access management, and deployment tooling.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code adoption across the engineering team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Emerging Technology Integration

  • AWS infrastructure for blockchain integration workstreams — node hosting, API gateway configuration, data pipeline setup.
  • IoT sensor data pipeline infrastructure — AWS IoT Core, data ingestion, processing, and storage layer.
  • Edge deployment integration — Cloudflare Workers and AWS hybrid architecture for our AI governance infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For

This is an intern or junior role. We are not looking for a senior engineer. We are looking for someone technically capable, highly motivated, and willing to learn fast in a small team where they will have real responsibility from day one. AWS certification is a plus but not required — competence and initiative matter more.

Essential

  • Hands-on AWS experience — EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudFront. You have built and deployed something real on AWS, not just studied it.
  • Linux command line proficiency. You are comfortable in a terminal.
  • Networking fundamentals — DNS, TLS, load balancers, security groups.
  • Git and basic CI/CD — you can set up a deployment pipeline.
  • Python or JavaScript/Node.js — enough to read and understand the services you are deploying.
  • Clear communication — you can explain what you have built, flag problems early, and work independently without hand-holding.

Desirable

  • AWS certification (any level — Cloud Practitioner upward).
  • Docker and container orchestration (ECS, EKS).
  • Infrastructure as code — Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • Multi-tenant SaaS architecture experience.
  • Blockchain or distributed systems exposure.
  • Experience in an early-stage startup or fast-moving small team.
  • Genuine interest in AI governance, impact finance, or sovereign technology.

What We Offer

Role type

Internship with a clear pathway to a permanent junior engineer role, based on performance rather than a fixed timeline.

Location

Fully remote. Our engineering team is distributed across the UK, Europe, and Africa. You work where you work best.

Compensation

Competitive intern stipend. To be discussed at interview stage.

Ownership

Real production infrastructure from day one. This is not a shadow or support role — you own the AWS environment for live products with paying clients.

Exposure

Direct access to the CTO and founding team. A genuinely novel technology stack spanning AI governance, blockchain, IoT, and SaaS. Commercial traction across multiple jurisdictions.

Growth

Clear progression to a permanent junior role. Equity participation discussed for candidates converting to permanent. Fast-moving environment where strong performers advance quickly.
