Trainee Bid Writer

We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our growing Work Winning team as a Trainee Bid Writer. This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career with a leading national Mechanical & Electrical engineering contractor.

Bid writing is a fast-paced and rewarding career that plays a key role in securing new business. You'll receive full training, support and mentoring while learning how to create compelling, high-quality tender submissions. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to bids across a range of sectors while gaining valuable industry knowledge.

This is a hybrid role, based between our London office (1 Angel Court, EC2R 7HJ) and home, with occasional travel required.

What You'll Be Doing

This varied role will provide a strong foundation in all aspects of bid writing across our Engineering division.

You will:

  • Support the creation of tender submissions, PQQs and client questionnaires.
  • Write and edit clear, persuasive responses to client requirements.
  • Gather information from teams across the business to strengthen submissions.
  • Format documents using company templates and branding guidelines.
  • Proofread content to ensure accuracy, quality and consistency.
  • Check all client requirements have been addressed before submission.
  • Maintain bid resources, including project case studies, CVs and company information.
  • Research clients, projects and competitors to help develop stronger responses.
  • Assist with the creation of capability statements and supporting documents.
  • Monitor bid deadlines and support the timely submission of tenders.
  • Collect and incorporate stakeholder feedback into bid responses.
  • Contribute ideas to improve bid quality, efficiency and success rates.
  • Develop an understanding of the construction, engineering and M&E sectors and the tendering process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
