Trainee Building Safety Surveyor

Salary: £35,313 plus additional benefits. Hours: 37 hours per week. Home-based with regular travel across our operating area: Please note that we recommend that you reside within 30 miles of DT1 2PJ. Permanent role. The role & what you take care of: Magna Housing is seeking a customer-focused, organised and enthusiastic Trainee Building Safety Surveyor to join our Building Safety team and help us create great homes together. In this role you will work closely with colleagues, customers, stakeholders and contractors across a range of building safety workstreams, using clear communication, accurate data management and a positive, one team approach to help keep our homes safe and well managed. You don’t need to have all the technical knowledge from day one, as we will support you with a two-year training plan. What matters most is your commitment to learning, your passion for great customer service, and your drive to make a real difference for our customers and communities. Survey, specify, procure and deliver fire safety works identified through fire risk assessments, ensuring recommendations are interpreted and implemented in a compliant and effective way. Manage designated fire safety work programmes, making sure they are delivered in line with regulations, KPIs, codes of conduct, budgets and agreed timescales. Oversee contractors and operational contracts, building positive working relationships and supporting high-quality, value-for-money delivery. Ensure workstreams and contracts meet relevant building regulations, local authority planning requirements and CDM responsibilities. Provide fire safety advice in customers’ homes through the relevant F11 process, while supporting colleagues to confidently follow the same approach. What you need to be successful: Bring a positive, customer-focused approach, with the confidence to engage with customers, colleagues and stakeholders across the business as part of one team. Be highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage information and data accurately. Use good problem-solving skills to work independently, take ownership and contribute effectively as part of a wider team. Show enthusiasm for learning, professional development and building knowledge in building safety, fire safety and related areas. Be willing to complete the two-year training agreement, which includes the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, FPA Level 2 and Level 3 Passive Fire Protection, CITB CDM for Clients, and Colin Todd’s Fire Risk Assessment Course.
