Trainee Bus Driver – Swansea
£14.07 per hour while training, £14.50 per hour once qualified (£27,795 per year while training, £28,652 per year once qualified)
Join First Bus as a Trainee Bus Driver and start a secure, long-term career with full training provided from day one. No previous bus driving experience is required, we will support you through your PCV training and help you progress into a fully qualified driving role.
This is a permanent, full-time position offering guaranteed contracted hours and structured rotas. You’ll receive full training, clear progression, and long-term job security within a well-established national transport operator.
What’s in it for you?
- You’ll earn £14.07 per hour while training, rising to £14.50 per hour once qualified, with the opportunity to increase earnings through overtime and additional shifts where available.
- You’ll benefit from a permanent, full-time, 38 hours per week contract with structured rotas planned in advance, full paid training from day one, and clear pay progression as you complete your qualification.

The Role
You will be trained to operate local bus services, providing safe, reliable, and professional transport for passengers travelling to work, education, healthcare, and leisure. This is a customer-facing role where safety, punctuality, and professionalism are essential. You will represent First Bus across your local area, delivering a consistent and dependable service.
What We’re Looking For
- Full UK driving licence held for at least 6 months
- Maximum of 6 penalty points
- Minimum age of 18
- Right to work in the UK
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Flexible approach to shift work
- No PCV licence is required, full training is provided.
