About Us

Consilium Technical Services delivers Temporary Traffic Management (TTM) designs for urban and rural roads, dual carriageways and motorways across the UK, using the latest industry software and best practice standards.

Alongside TTM design, we provide vehicle swept path analysis, consultancy, RRRAP assessments, BIM/3D design and traffic modelling, partnering with clients from early planning through to delivery.

About The Role Of Trainee TM CAD Designer

As a Trainee Temporary Traffic Management Designer, you will use a range of the latest industry software to produce high-quality designs, from 2D street works to 3D BIM designs for high-speed dual carriageways.

You will be responsible for designing projects in line with relevant regulations and reporting to your dedicated Team Leader and Operational Leads.

Other Duties Will Include

  • Developing your understanding of the sector through observation, training and close support from your mentor
  • Producing scaled and schematic temporary traffic management drawings
  • Assisting with design modifications to facilitate operations
  • Ensuring all temporary traffic management drawings comply with relevant guidelines
  • Keeping all project paperwork and documentation up to date
  • Maintaining CAD models, drawings and associated files
  • Working with Design Engineers and Team Leaders to develop your BricsCAD skills and maintain a consistently high standard of final drawing presentation
  • Receiving continual Health & Safety and Lantra-approved training to develop and maintain your temporary traffic management knowledge and experience

This is a great opportunity to join a successful team and work alongside talented designers and engineers.

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 7.30am and 4.30pm.

Essential Attributes For a Trainee CAD Designer

  • A full driving licence, or currently taking driving lessons, as road knowledge and awareness are essential and travel will be required as part of the placement
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Excellent level of written and spoken English
  • An interest in AutoCAD, BricsCAD or similar software packages
  • Excellent communication skills when working with clients and colleagues
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analytical skills
  • Creative flair
  • The ability to generate ideas and put them into practice
  • The ability to work well in a team and add value as a team player
