Data Logger Operative (Maintenance)
Purpose and Scope of the Role
Tetra Tech is recruiting Data Logger Operatives (Maintenance) to support our South East Water contract across Basingstoke, Kent, and Sussex.
You will:
- Deploy, install, and retrieve pressure logging equipment across the water network
- Collect and upload data
- Read network plans and identify fittings for safe deployment
- Work closely with Line Managers and operational colleagues to deliver accurate, timely information that supports:
- Leakage reduction
- Service resilience
- Regulatory performance across critical infrastructure

- Short term: Build confidence in field operations, safe systems of work, and customer-facing delivery
- Long term: Develop specialist knowledge of pressure logging and water network operations, contributing to high-value leakage reduction and network performance projects
- Clear pathway for progression in a technical and operational environment, supported by structured development and varied field experience

Technical Understanding
- Read network plans and schematics
- Identify fittings and effectively use equipment
- Pressure logger experience is advantageous, but not essential
Safety and Compliance
- Apply safe working methods at all times
- Understand health and safety requirements, lone working, and operational controls
Customer and Team Communication
- Communicate clearly with colleagues, clients, and customers
- Coordinate weekly activities and represent Tetra Tech professionally
Digital and Administrative Skills
- Use Microsoft Office and complete forms, timesheets, and operational records accurately and on time
Qualifications and Training
Essential
- Full UK manual driving licence
- EUSR National Water Hygiene
Desirable
- Streetworks
- Confined Space (Medium Risk)
- Valve Ops
Work Patterns and Locations
- Field-based role covering Basingstoke, Kent, and Sussex
- Must be willing to:
- Travel
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Support occasional evenings, weekends, early starts, or night work
- Hybrid or remote working is limited due to operational demands
