Trainee Driver
Trainee Driver – Operations Team (Ewelme)
Salary: Competitive + driver bonus scheme + fully-funded continued CPC held on a working day Contract: Full-time, permanent Working hours: 42.75 hours per week – Mon-Fri, 5am–2:30pm, plus alternate Sat mornings (5am–9:30am)

At Grundon, we’re seeking a dynamic, passionate, and driven individual to join our Operations team in Ewelme as a Trainee Driver.

Reporting to the Depot Operations Manager, you’ll develop as a driver, operating various waste collection vehicles safely and efficiently. Your role will ensure seamless waste collection and disposal, prioritise safety for yourself, colleagues, and the public, and deliver our highest standards of customer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily vehicle checks, submit defect/damage reports, and follow the correct escalation process
- Comply with tachograph legislation, Working Time Directive, and all company SOPs, risk assessments, and health & safety requirements (including PPE)
- Report incidents, near misses, contaminated bins, and non-conforming waste promptly (with accurate job tickets)
- Maintain vehicles in immaculate condition, including cleanliness and weekly wheel nut torque checks
- Deliver exceptional service, demonstrating reliability, strong work ethic, and professionalism
- Work flexible hours, including occasional overtime, to meet business needs
- Uphold all company policies and procedures, including health and safety and employment regulations
- Support ad hoc projects as assigned by management

About You
Ideal applicants will possess:
- A full UK driving license
- Practical skills such as map reading, direction-following, and behaviours aligned with our values
- A proactive, solution-focused mindset with flexibility for new tasks and extra hours
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team while using independent initiative
- Basic understanding of health & safety, with commitment to all required training
