We're Hiring! Earthworks, Civils Estimator and Trainee Earthworks, Civils Estimator – Earthworks & Civil Engineering

Location: AFS Earthmoving & Aggregates LLP, Uttoxeter

Salary & Package: Competitive Salary + Company Pension + Discretionary Bonus + On-site Parking


AFS Earthmoving & Aggregates LLP is a well-established and growing Earthworks, Aggregates and Civil Engineering contractor. Due to continued expansion, we are looking to recruit either an experienced Estimator or a Trainee Estimator with relevant qualifications and a desire to develop a long-term career within the industry.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful and supportive team, working on a diverse range of Earthworks and Civil Engineering projects from the earliest stages through to tender submission and project handover.

The Role

As part of our estimating team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing and prioritising incoming tenders and enquiries.
  • Assisting with or managing all elements of the estimating process.
  • Preparing quantity take-offs, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Supporting the pricing and tender submission process.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • Preparing professional tender documentation, including programmes, clarifications, health & safety information, and value engineering proposals.
  • Ensuring estimates are accurate, competitive, and supported by supply chain engagement.
  • Maximising opportunities across AFS's multi-disciplinary services.
  • Assisting with project handovers to operational teams.
  • Participating in tender reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Who We're Looking For

Experienced Estimator

  • Previous estimating experience within Earthworks, Civil Engineering, Groundworks, or a related sector.
  • Good understanding of forms of contract and pricing methodologies.
  • Ability to estimate from first principles.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines.

Trainee Estimator

  • Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Eagerness to learn, develop, and build a career in estimating.
  • Positive attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to work as part of a team.
