Trainee Environmental Technician
Location: Brighton Salary: £26,088 per year
Reporting to the Area Manager, the Environmental Technician will deliver routine monitoring across our Water, Construction, and Compliance service areas. This is a predominantly site-based role perfect for those passionate about the outdoors and keen to build a technical career in environmental services.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental safety and compliance by conducting routine checks, maintaining client infrastructure, and managing data with meticulous accuracy. This is a positively developed position where you'll be encouraged to specialise and progress toward a Senior Technician role through hands-on training and field experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine monitoring across Water, Construction, and Compliance sectors in line with company protocols and client specifications
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on environmental control systems and client infrastructure to ensure operational reliability
- Act as the official representative of Enitial in the field, fostering reliable client relationships and maintaining professionalism
- Oversee calibration and maintenance of company equipment and vehicles, adhering to quality assurance standards
- Accurately manage and report field data to Data Analysts, identifying deviations or non-conformances that may affect data quality
- Review schedules and collaborate with the Scheduling team to optimise fieldwork efficiency
- Prioritise safety by proactively reporting near misses or incidents, while complying with remote working policies
- Work closely with team members to uplift morale, support training programs, and onboard new colleagues
- Identify credible business opportunities on-site by conducting client assessments and commercial reviews

Requirements
Essential:
- Degree (BSc) or higher education certification in an environmental/academic discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Passion for working outdoors in various conditions, with a proactive, hands-on approach to fieldwork
- Strong communication skills to build client relationships and articulate technical issues to management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong data management capabilities
- Full, clean British Driving License (essential due to regional travel requirements)
- Ability to work independently and use personal initiative while remaining a team player
