Location: Regional / Field-Based (Reporting to regional depot) Salary: £26,088

What You’ll Be Doing
This is a unique field-based role that perfectly bridges the gap between environmental chemistry and practical, outdoor field operations. You will split your time across our core service areas of Water, Construction, and Compliance, working flexibly and often autonomously to ensure data integrity remains flawless.
- Testing incoming industrial and domestic waste streams at treatment works
- Collecting vital environmental compliance samples
- Maintaining complex monitoring infrastructure in the field
- Performing the official receipt of tankered trade and domestic waste loads and conducting rapid laboratory chemical analysis on samples before acceptance at sewage treatment works
- Conducting routine environmental sampling and monitoring across water, construction, and compliance sites, adhering to QA protocols and client specifications
- Performing operational checks, calibrations, and preventative maintenance on environmental control systems and monitoring infrastructure
- Capturing and managing data with high precision, reporting findings to Data Analysts in a timely and accurate format
- Liaising directly with commercial laboratories and couriers to ensure sample compliance and integrity during transport
- Emphasising safety – utilising the "Stay Safe" remote working application while proactively reporting any near misses or accidents immediately
- Assisting with on-site training and shadowing of new employees, fostering an engaging and supportive onboarding experience

What We’re Looking For
- A genuine passion for working outdoors in all weathers – this is not a typical office or indoor lab job
- Highly reliable with the ability to self-manage daily hours, adapt to flexibility, and solve problems independently
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with on-site clients, waste hauliers, and internal data teams
- Adaptability to shift work (7am–7pm) with occasional weekend and overnight covers
- Full UK Driving Licence (absolutely essential for fieldwork)
- BSc Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline (highly desirable)
- Foundational industry knowledge or experience in environmental field monitoring (training will be provided)
- Ability to remain focused and meticulous, even under dynamic conditions
