Job Title: Trainee Estimator
Reporting to: Estimator
Business Unit: GGP
Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the estimator, the overall purpose of the role is to prepare detailed bid and tender submissions of a high value (£0.2m - £10m).
Responsibilities & Duties
Including but not limited to the following:
- Being responsible for the complete project pricing and tender preparation for turnkey (design, procure, install, and commission) construction of new substations and overhead lines.
- Working closely with Overhead Lines and Substations project managers to agree required project manpower resource.
- Working closely with the procurement manager in respect of prices for required materials.
- Providing support to the estimator in their role and responsibilities.
- Act as a role model for Omexom Company Values
Governance
Interfaces and relationships with key stakeholders:
- Estimator
- Operations / Project Managers
- Procurement Manager

Person Specification
Qualifications And Experience
- Strong understanding of MS Excel with demonstrable practical experience of using MS Excel to price projects.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with analytical and problem-solving skills to reach realistic, workable solutions.
- Ability to work as part of a team but also able to work on their own.
- IT literate with the ability to use and develop these skills to the full.
- Able to work to tight submission deadlines with minimum supervision and can demonstrate previous experience of working under pressure.
- Understanding of commercial terms and conditions and the impact they would have upon project delivery.
- Adaptability to succeed within a demanding business.
- Keen to develop and grow within the Estimator role, taking on additional supervisory and managerial responsibilities and duties.

Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in a high-voltage environment
- Experience within a similar role.
- Demonstrable experience in negotiation of terms and conditions.
