Trainee Field Service Technician
Salary: £28,350 + Bonus Scheme (after probation)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (paid door-to-door)
Location: Cambridge area with occasional UK-wide travel required
The Opportunity
Ready to kick-start your engineering career? We are looking for enthusiastic and practical individuals who are eager to develop their skills in a field-based engineering role.
This position would be ideal for newly qualified apprentices or junior engineers from backgrounds such as electrical installation, mechanical engineering, plumbing, carpentry, maintenance engineering, vehicle mechanics, plant engineering, construction trades, or similar hands-on technical disciplines.
You will join an experienced engineering team and receive ongoing training while working on the installation, servicing and maintenance of specialist medical mobility equipment at customer sites across the UK. This is a varied role offering excellent real-world engineering experience, regular customer interaction and strong opportunities for career progression.
Covering Cambridgeshire and the surrounding areas with occasional nationwide travel and overnight stays, with all accommodation and expenses fully covered.

Key Responsibilities
- Install and assemble specialist motility equipment at customer sites in a care setting.
- Carry out routine servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with fault finding, repairs and performance testing.
- Deliver, collect and commission equipment as required.
- Complete service documentation and reports using digital systems.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide a professional and customer-focused service at all times.
About You
This role would suit a recently qualified apprentice, junior engineer or technician looking to develop a long-term career within engineering. Apprenticeships or any experience in suitable backgrounds could include:
- Electrical Installation
- Mechanical Engineering
- Plumbing & Heating
- Carpentry & Joinery
- Maintenance Engineering
- Vehicle Mechanics
- Plant or Agricultural Engineering
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Construction Trades
- Other practical apprenticeship-trained disciplines

- A hands-on approach and strong technical aptitude.
- Good problem-solving and communication skills.
- The desire to learn and develop new technical skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- Flexibility to travel throughout the UK, including overnight stays when required.
- Full RTW in the UK
