Trainee Field Technician
Trainee Field Technician (Water Industry) – Leak Detection Role
Location: Slough, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Thames Valley region
Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, standard working days) Essential: Full and valid clean driving licence
About the Role
Would you like to launch a career in the Water Industry? If you have a full clean driving licence and are looking for hands-on training with full support, this Trainee Field Technician position offers a structured path into leak detection and network maintenance.
This role is ideal for graduates, ex-forces personnel, drivers (multi-drop, meter readers, delivery drivers), or those with a manual or outdoor working background.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in detailed surveys to identify and locate underground water leaks using specialised equipment:
- Listening stick
- Correlator
- CAT (Current Attitude Transformer)
- Genny (generator-powered equipment)
- Ground microphones
- Traced and reported leaks via field equipment, logging accurate data in real time.
- Support survey and project work, includingTasksx not part of routine leak detection.
- Complete all mandatory paperwork accurately:
- Time sheets
- Survey forms
- Leak details logs
- Other required documentation
- Utilise basic computer skills to upload recorded data onto a laptop:
- Ensure all records comply with reporting standards.

Training Provided
To begin, the company will cover full training in the following:
- EUSR Water Hygiene Training
- Unit 2: Street Works
