Trainee Field Technician – Entry into the Water Industry (F Branco)

Location: Local areas Organization: Water industry partner (recruited via Finlay Jude Associates)


About the Role

Would you like to join a progressive company that provides full training and support to launch a career in the Water Industry? If you hold a full, clean driving licence and have an interest in outdoor/manual/motor trade experience, this could be the ideal route for you.

The Training You’ll Receive:

  • EUSR Water Hygiene Training (Unit 2 – Street Work)
  • Detailed on-the-job leak detection and repair techniques
  • Technical certifications relevant to the water network trade

Dedicated support will be provided from day one, turning this into a viable entry point into a fulfilling and skilled career with excellent progression opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct detailed surveys to locate and identify water leaks on underground networks (including locations and leak type classification).
  • Support repair teams by pinpointing and confirming leaks before practical repair interventions begin.
  • Assist on-site with technical survey projects beyond daily leak detection, including non-standard scenarios.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough reporting of fieldwork (completing:
    • Time sheets
    • Leak detection records
    • Survey forms)
  • Operate laptop-assisted data collection (entry-level IT skills assumed; training provided). Lab-based discreet hygiene exits excluded.
  • Drive a company vehicle as needed within your operating district to reach locations.

Desired Profile

The client is open to diverse but ambitious candidates who share an entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on aptitude. Sought applicants include:

  • Graduates eager for on-the-job training in a trade vs. office environment.
  • Ex-military personnel looking to translate transferable skills into the utilities sector.
  • Drivers—A to D licence & van driving or experiential roles such as:
    • Multi-drop deliveries
    • Professional metering teams
    • Delivery or media van trades ahead of working outdoors
  • Manual/outdoor-based workers (plapers/welder-trades, welders, electricians, operators).

Requirements

✅ Full, valid British driving licence – Commercial licences (where applicable) are a bonus. ✅ Commitment to drug and alcohol testing prior to job-starting. (Training passes initial ROPS but does not provide roof access.) ✅ Customer orientated self-starters, who embrace the challenge of fast-paced customer and civil-service interaction.
