Trainee Field Technician
Trainee Field Technician – Water Industry Career Starter
We’re looking for motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Field Technicians to cover your local area.
About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to begin a career in the water industry with full training and support. No experience is required—we’ll provide everything you need to succeed!
Successful candidates will assist in leak detection activities, pinpointing issues in the water network. The role operates on working days (Monday–Friday), totalling 40 hours per week.

The Work
Your primary responsibilities will involve:
- Deploying and retrieving loggers (small metal devices) in DMA (District Metered Areas)
- Attaching loggers to fire hydrants and valves (typically 80–100 per day)
- Retrieving loggers after 24 hours to download captured data
- Monitoring leakage noise (measured in Decibels) during 2.00 AM – 4.00 AM (daily silent periods)
- This physically demanding role includes: Moving, lifting, stretching, bending, and driving for extended periods.

This position would suit someone with experience as a Driver, Van Driver, Multidrop Driver, Meter Reader, Noise Logging Technician, Field Technician, Labourer, or Warehouse Operative, or anyone seeking a career change into manual/outdoor work.
Requirements
Applicants must:
- Have excellent communication and customer service skills
- Hold a full UK manual driving licence
- Meet the following checks:
- Drug and alcohol tests
- DBS check
