Job Title: Trainee Field Technician

Igne is seeking a Trainee Field Technician to join the Construction Materials Testing Division in Bristol. This role is not about a sterile lab and a white coat. Instead, you'll be working hands-on with ground and soil samples, using the latest technology to help our construction sector clients identify cost-effective solutions for their building projects.

About the Role

This role will involve working on-site obtaining various soil and construction material samples and testing them in-situ. Consideration will be given to experienced field technicians.

Requirements

  • Clean UK driving license
  • Desire to work outdoors in all weathers

Key Responsibilities

  • On-site sampling and testing of various construction materials e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt
  • Completion of test sheets and data entry onto tablets
  • Liaising with senior members of staff on work schedules and testing procedures
  • Working within in-house quality assurance systems
  • Maintain high levels of health and safety in line with company policies

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
