Trainee Fleet Technician – Southampton Bodyshop (Flex-E-Rent)

About the Role

Ready to kickstart your career? We’re seeking a Trainee Fleet Technician to support our specialist team in maintaining, repairing, and inspecting a fleet of golf buggies and ATVs hired across major UK events. Ideal for mechanics, automotive enthusiasts, or team players with a hands-on attitude—no formal qualifications required.

Our fleet includes:

  • Diesel and electric ATVs
  • Electric and petrol golf buggies

Location: Mill Lane, Nursling, SO16 0YE

Work Environment

Part of Enterprise Mobility’s Flex-E-Rent Buggies division, supporting over 1,000 golf buggies and ATVs across the UK. Work across three depots in partnership with our fleet transporters.

Hours & Flexibility

  • 42.5 hours/week, Monday–Friday
  • Events season: Weekend/evening work may be required (paid overtime allowance/on-call bonus)
  • UK travel expected during peak dates

Responsibilities

Your core duties will include:

  • Maintaining & repairing golf buggies, ATVs (electric and hybrid)
  • Identifying and resolving mechanical & electrical faults; replacing faulty parts
  • Performing preventative maintenance to ensure reliability
  • Inspecting vehicles before short-/long-term hires
  • Managing workshop records (software training provided)
  • Ad-hoc visits to customer sites to resolve faults (summer events may require UK travel/overnight stays)
  • Ensuring cleanliness, security, and health & safety compliance
  • Collaborating with onsite event teams as required

Requirements

Essential

  • Manual driving licence (UK/EU/Irish)
  • 6 points or fewer on driving record
  • Age 21+ (UK/EU policy requirement)
  • Practical approach and positive “can-do” attitude
  • Strong team player with communication & organisational skills
  • Flexible availability to align with our busy season

Desirable

  • Customer service background
  • Experience with agricultural machinery, plant, or groundcare equipment (advantageous)
  • Mechanical expertise (e.g., LCV Level 2/3 qualification in motor or motorcycle)
  • Time-served apprenticeship/handson experience appreciated

Other

  • Successful security check involving financial probity & basic criminality disclosure
