About The Role

The post will sit within the Place finance team. The post is on a career pathway, starting at trainee accountant (grade 2B), through senior trainee accountant (grade 3A) to accountant (grade 3C). Subject to managerial review of performance against the standard expected of the next grade in the pathway, you will progress through the grades as you develop in knowledge, skills, and experience. This post is the first stage of the pathway, trainee accountant (grade 2B). As a Trainee Graduate Accountant, you will support the financial operations within our local authority, ensuring our financial practices comply with statutory regulations and standards. Your role will be crucial in budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, contributing to the efficient management of our resources and the delivery of essential services to our community. You will become a CIPFA qualified accountant by studying at college (day release) towards the Professional Accountant apprenticeship standard.

About You

If you have a high performing track record of achieving solutions, you’re looking to make a difference and want to be part of a strong team culture we would like to hear from you. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can operate as part of a team delivering results in support of the wider finance team. You will be proactive, dynamic, motivated and have the drive to meet strict deadlines. You will also have significant experience in business partnering across multiple finance and non-finance teams; preparing budgets and forecasts; have strong communication skills (both written and verbal); the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of forms of communication and a proactive and enthusiastic individual who will shape the implementation of a new finance and procurement system.
