Trainee Installer

About the Role

The Trainee Installer role is a full-time remote position focused on supporting the installation of gas membranes, geosynthetics, and other ground gas protection systems on construction and remediation projects.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Assisting experienced installers on-site
  • Preparing materials and tools
  • Following installation plans and quality procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with technical specifications and health and safety standards
  • Reading basic drawings
  • Completing site documentation
  • Communicating effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and technical teams

The role involves:

  • Travel to various project locations
  • Working both indoors and outdoors
  • A proactive approach to training
  • Adherence to safe working practices
  • Development of skills in contaminated land and ground gas protection systems

Qualifications and Requirements

While a full training package is provided from day one, the following skills are preferred or the ability to learn them:

  • Ability to follow technical instructions, interpret basic plans or drawings, and learn installation methods for gas membranes and geosynthetic materials
  • Strong awareness of health and safety, including safe use of tools and equipment, along with a willingness to follow site rules and risk assessments
  • Good practical, hands-on skills, with the ability to:
    • Work outdoors
    • Handle materials
    • Carry out physical tasks as part of an installation team
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a professional approach when working with:
    • Supervisors
    • Colleagues
    • Clients
  • Basic numeracy and literacy, including the ability to complete site records and documentation accurately
  • Motivation to learn and build a career in:
    • Construction
    • Civil engineering
    • Contaminated land management

Additional Essential Requirements:

  • A full, valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to various sites in the relevant country
  • Eligibility to work in the country where the role is based

Preferred (but not essential) add-ons:

  • Vocational training in construction
  • Certifications in health and safety (e.g., CSCS card), as training will form part of the package.
