Trainee Lab Technician

If you're interested in working in an Optical Lab, our Trainee Lab Technician position may be the ideal fit.

About the Role

As a Trainee Lab Technician, you’ll:

  • Utilise latest computer-controlled equipment
  • Maintain an eye for detail and accuracy to maximise customer satisfaction
  • Work under supervision while developing expertise in lab tasks

Location

  • Primary store: Falkirk High Street (with parking nearby and excellent transport links)
  • May require occasional work at our Grangemouth store

Our Team

  • A small, close-knit lab team of 4
  • A larger store team consisting of around 40 dedicated staff

Requirements

We’re looking for:

  • An eye for detail in precision tasks
  • The ability to be flexible and adaptable
  • Strong organisation and time management skills
  • A hard-working attitude

Responsibilities

We’ll train you to confidently perform tasks such as:

  • Reading lens and frame prescriptions
  • Operating blocking and glazing machines to shape and fit lenses
  • Assembling lenses into frames
  • Tinting lenses (UV protection and colour customisation)
  • Ordering frames and lenses
  • Quality checking completed glasses
  • Maintaining good housekeeping and machine upkeep
