Trainee Lab Technician
Trainee Lab Technician – Optical Lab
We’re looking for a proactive, organised individual who enjoys hands-on work and delivering the best service to our customers. If you’re passionate about working in an optical lab, this Trainee Lab Technician role could be perfect for you.
As a Trainee Lab Technician, you will:
- Use the latest computer-controlled equipment to maintain high accuracy and innovative processes
- Work with precision, an eye for detail, and a commitment to maximising customer satisfaction
Our Store
Based at Unit 1, The Loreburne Shoppin Centre, Dumfries, our store is a vibrant, busy environment. It benefits from great public transport access and nearby parking facilities.
Our Team
You’ll join a small but dedicated lab team alongside approximately 30 staff within the store.

The Role
We’ll provide full training so you can confidently perform the following tasks:
- Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions
- Operating blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses accurately
- Assembling lenses into glass frames
- Tinting lenses to provide UV protection and coloured options
- Ordering frames and lenses
- Quality checking completed glasses for precision
- Maintaining good housekeeping and machine upkeep
