Trainee Lab Technician – Optical Lab Role

About the Role
As a Trainee Lab Technician, you’ll:
- Operate the latest computer-controlled equipment with an eye for detail & accuracy
- Uphold high standards to ensure maximum customer satisfaction

Location
Based at Unit 1, The Loreburne Shoppin’ Centre, Dumfries, Dumfries & Galloway—a busy and vibrant setting with: ✔ Easy public transport access ✔ Nearby parking available
Team Structure
- A small lab team in-house
- Larger store team of around 30 dedicated staff

What We Offer
Salary & Hours
- £12.91 per hour
- Part-time contract: 30–37.5 hours per week (including weekend shifts on rotation)

Essential Tasks (Training Provided)
Daily Responsibilities
- Interpret prescriptions for lens & frame specifications
- Operate blocking & glazing machines to cut & shape lenses
- Assemble lenses into frames
- Tint lenses for UV protection & colour customisation
- Order frames & lenses to stock specifications
- Perform quality checks on completed glasses
- Maintain good housekeeping & equipment standards
