Purpose and scope of the role

Tetra Tech seeks Trainee Leakage Engineers for permanent, full-time roles in West and South Wales to support regional leakage reduction programmes. You will be part of multi‑disciplinary teams that include three‑person site survey crews and office specialists, delivering leakage detection, monitoring and repair activities across multiple regional contracts. Day‑to‑day you will conduct field investigations, capture pressure and flow data, support excavations, complete electronic reporting and contribute to regulatory targets. The role is operational and client facing, supported by full training, mentoring and an allocated company van.

Your impact in this position

In the short term you will develop core leakage detection skills and support KPI delivery across district metered areas. Over the medium term you will take on increased responsibility for planning and executing detection programmes, mentoring junior colleagues and improving operational efficiency. Long term, the role offers a clear progression pathway into senior leakage technician, team leader or specialist analytical roles within Tetra Tech, working on projects that reduce water loss and protect customers and the environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
