Trainee Lift Engineer ( Scotec )

Technical Engineer – Raises (Lifts/Electrical/Mechanical) at ORONA

Location: Glasgow/Edinburgh, Scotland Type: Full-time

About ORONA

ORONA is a global leader in the design, manufacture, installation, maintenance, and modernisation of lifts, escalators, moving walkways, and ramps. We operate in over 100 countries, with 330,000 lifts worldwide leveraging our technology, and are Number 1 in Europe for complete lift production capacity. Our network includes 2 manufacturing plants.

The Opportunity

ORONA is looking for Mechanical or Electrical Engineers at the beginning or early stage of their careers to develop through our Transferable Skills Programme. This program provides hands-on training under our experienced engineers and technical teams, preparing you for a career as an Independent Lift Engineer.

You’ll be mentored to gain industry expertise, then qualifying for the NVQ Level 3 course in either:

  • Installation of lifts
  • Maintenance of lifts

About the Role

As a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer applicant, you’ll learn alongside proven professionals while developing your technical and operational skills. By the end of the program, you’ll hold a formal qualification in your chosen lift discipline, and be supported to progress independently within ORONA’s industry-leading projects.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
