The Role: Transferable Skills Programme for Lift Engineers
We’re seeking Mechanical or Electrical Engineers based in the Glasgow/Edinburgh area for a unique 12-month training programme. This is your chance to transition from a technical background into a specialised lift engineering career.

Your journey will include:
- On-the-job training by experienced Lift Engineers & Technical Department.
- NVQ Level 3 qualification (either Installation or Maintenance of Lifts), supported by Orona.
- Exposure to industry standards, safety protocols, and real-world projects.
- Recognition for initiative and skill development—fast-tracking you toward independent lift engineering roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting experienced lift engineers in installation, maintenance, or diagnostics.
- Gaining hands-on experience with lift systems, safety mechanisms, and emerging technologies.
- Lambent exposure to compliance, documentation, and troubleshooting.
- Proving capability to grow into a self-directed, specialised lift engineer role.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Qualified Mechanical or Electrical Background:
- Proven via formal education (e.g., college/degree) or recent work experience.
- Ideal candidates hold:
- Level 2 Foundation Course in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations qualification.
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Safety-Focused Mindset:
- Commitment to following strict safety guidelines in all tasks.
- Eager to Learn & Adapt:
- Demonstrates willingness to upskill in technical and sector-specific areas.
- Basic for Practical Work:
- Valid clean UK driving licence (essential for site travel).
Desirable but Not Mandatory
- Experience with practical engineering tools or systems.
- Familiarity with British Standards (e.g., BS EN 81) or similar coding.
