Trainee Management Accountant

Join a finance team that makes a difference

At Healthcare Management Trust (HMT), we're passionate about delivering outstanding health and social care services that improve lives. As a charitable organisation, every member of our team plays an important role in helping us provide innovative, compassionate care to people with complex needs.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Management Accountant to join our Finance Team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in finance while gaining valuable hands-on experience across management accounting, financial reporting, payroll and ledger management.

Whether you're studying towards AAT, have recently graduated in Accounting and Finance, or already have experience working within a finance function, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll support the production of accurate and timely financial information across the organisation. You'll work closely with experienced finance professionals, gaining exposure to a wide range of accounting responsibilities while developing your technical knowledge and practical skills.

This role offers an excellent foundation for someone who is keen to build a long-term career in management accounting.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts for both corporate and operational sites.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with monthly journals, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
  • Supporting the year-end statutory accounts process.
  • Processing debtor receipts and allocating payments.
  • Reconciling card payments and bank receipts.
  • Processing supplier invoices and completing supplier statement reconciliations.
  • Posting cashbook payments.
  • Supporting payroll administration, including processing monthly timesheets and setting up new starters.
  • Assisting with monthly KPI and statistical reporting.
  • Helping maintain accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
