Production Assistant – Full-Time
Overview
- Competitive Starter Rate: £12.80 per hour, rising to £13.10 per hour after 18 months' probation
- Location: Dunelm Retail Manufacturing Centre, Birstall, Leicestershire
- Hours: 38.5 hours per week
- Mon–Thurs: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
- Fri: 7:30 AM – 12 PM
- Employment Type: Secure, permanent

About the Role
In this production assistant position, you will:
- Gain expertise in the product life-cycle from creation to completion
- Learn to operate and manage automated manufacturing systems
- Develop problem-solving and workload management skills
- Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with clear hourly, daily, and weekly production targets
- Contribute to a productive, team-focused workplace, becoming a polite and skilled colleague

What You’ll Be Doing
- Production & Quality Control: Assisting in the manufacturing of bespoke window treatments, accessories, and furniture components.
- Electronic System Operation: Working alongside automated machinery to ensure efficient and accurate production.
- Adaptability & Attention to Detail: Crafting high-standard items that meet customer expectations.
- Team Support: Collaborating in a courteous, skilled, and methodical team environment.

Requirements
Essential Criteria
- A positive attitude and keenness to learn new skills.
- Ability to thrive in a productive team environment and maintain focus under pressure.
- Strong eye for detail—all our products are unique, bespoke items that require precision.
- Flexibility to support delivery of production targets on set timelines.
- Willingness to work in a high-tempo, manufacturing setting.
Desired Experience
- Prior experience as a Sewing Machinist in a similar industry.
- Familiarity with the textiles or hosiery industry (e.g., operating sewing machines, handling textile materials).
- A genuine passion for craftsmanship and an interest in bespoke furnishing products.
Full training will be provided, so previous experience while beneficial, is not mandatory.
